Diarrheal diseases

Most diarrheal diseases can be prevented with adequate drinking water and food hygiene.

Some basic rules

Never drink tap water but, for example, bottled water. If bottled water is not available, filter and disinfect or boil water. Also use drinking water to brush your teeth or wash the dishes. Peeling, boiling or disinfecting foods, raw salads and mayonnaise are not recommended.
When buying bottled drinking water, make sure that the original cap is not broken. Boil unpasteurized milk and mix dry or canned milk only with sterile water. Dairy products should only be consumed if they consist of disinfected / pasteurized milk. Only eat fish and meat dishes when they are well cooked.

Medical supplies

We strongly recommend taking out health insurance for travel abroad. This health insurance should also cover repatriation in the event of an emergency.
When traveling to the Falkland Islands, take a specially designed first-aid kit with you and protect it from high temperatures when you are out and about.
